Do you have an entrepreneurial spirit? 20 year well established company in the Sacramento area is looking for an experienced RF Technician to manage and grow our service and technical department. Manage and participate in two-way radio installations, custom upfitting, maintenance, and repair. Knowledge and experience of antenna and P25 Trunking systems preferred. Installs, tests, repairs, and maintains base, mobile and portable two-way radios and accessory equipment.
Installs and maintains electronic surveillance and security systems.
Installs repairs and maintains multiplex equipment, both analog and digital, and point to point communications systems.
Creates code plugs, maintain technical training requirements
Installs and maintains public address systems, earphone systems, intercom systems, electronic sirens, lighting stations, and other equipment and systems.
May operate and maintain service vehicles.
Assists in the planning and designing of new installations, systems, and equipment.
Checks frequencies and solves interference problems.
Provides technical expertise in the consideration of equipment and system needs and concerns.
Repairs and maintains test equipment.
Hires installation and technical personnel
Gives annual reviews
Maintains a budget for the service department as well as profit and loss accountability with built in financial reward element for doing well.
Additional Job Duties
May train employees in the methods, practices, policies and procedures applicable to the work.
Performs on a regular basis the most complex radio communications technician assignments.
Serves as recognized expert within program area, and provides technical assistance to other departmental staff.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
Knowledge of the principles of two-way radio communication.
Knowledge of the design principles of radio equipment.
Knowledge of two-way radio equipment, components and systems.
Knowledge of solid state electronics, the operational design of circuits, and electronic testing equipment.
Knowledge of state and federal two-way radio regulations.
Ability to remove and install two-way radios, sirens, telephones, and other equipment.
Ability to read and use schematic diagrams.
Ability to complete and maintain records and forms
Ability to maintain an inventory of equipment and parts.
Ability to drive vehicles associated with the work
Familiar with Distributed Antenna Systems
Service Maintenance Contract, aka SLA pricing and staff requirements
Ability to bid competitively
Ability to offer Managed Services, Extended Warranties, Network Operations Center, Installation and Deployment, Consulting and Customization Services
Familiar with state, county and city procurement process
Excellent time management and productivity skills
Custom unfitting experience a plus
Microsoft Word, Excel, Power Point, Outlook and QuickBooks experience preferred
Currently has a sought-after reputation for doing good work in the industry
